Centennial Marching Band Receives Superior Rating
On October 17th, the Centennial Marching Band participated in the 2020 IHSMA “Virtual” State Marching Band Festival, where they received a Division I “Superior” rating. This is the highest rating that a high school marching band can receive at this festival. This is the 7th consecutive year in which they have received this rating. To participate, the band submitted a video of their 2020 show “Lift Your Heart & Voice”, which was then adjudicated by a panel of judges from across the state of Iowa. “I am so proud of all of the hard work the students put in this year in order to not only put together a fantastic show, but to also take care of each other and keep each other safe every day. The students went above and beyond all expectations and I couldn’t be prouder of them!”- Scott Hook, director. The Centennial High School Marching Band consists of 200 students in grades 9-12 and is directed by Scott Hook, Nick Rueckert, Janelle Hook, Marcus Price, Mary Harris and Jake Thieben. Congratulations!

REMOTE-ONLY INFORMATION
Remote learners, as you prepare for the upcoming year, we wanted to share specific information regarding remote learning with you as detailed in the links below. Additionally please note the times in the daily schedule for secondary students have been altered since the parent forums back in late July. This adjustment was made to provide course programming that fosters success beyond the PreK-12 classroom. Remote learners are being served by teachers across the district and may be attending synchronous sessions with students from other buildings. Therefore, students may need to access the building drop down menu in Infinite Campus to see their full remote learning class schedule. For example, a Centennial High School student may need to select Ankeny High School to see a complete student schedule.

Parents of students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) will engage in team meetings in the coming days to finalize special education services and schedules. Many schedules may appear to be incomplete, and require the team conversation to ensure that course requests and special education services are honored to the highest extent possible. Adjustments to schedules will continue to be made based on the outcome of the IEP team conversations.
